Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, is considering changes that would speed up product development and increase how often Apple releases new hardware, according to reporting cited by multiple outlets.

The outlets largely point to a Bloomberg report describing early plans for Ternus. Apple’s traditional cadence includes major iPhone launches in September and other announcements tied to spring and fall events. Ternus is said to be exploring a shift away from those fixed cycles so products, including iPhones and laptops, can appear more throughout the year.

Beyond launch timing, MacRumors adds detail on other internal restructuring ideas attributed to Mark Gurman: making the organization leaner with more engineering focus, reducing organizational “bloat,” and potentially cutting some middle-management layers. MacRumors also says Ternus is pushing for a more experimental approach to stay competitive in the AI era, alongside efforts to generate more revenue from existing products and adjust budgets for future planning. Gurman cautions that changing long-standing practices could take years and may be challenging, with signs of staffing changes already underway.
