Uttar Pradesh electricity consumers are set to receive a 5.24% reduction in their power bills for October, according to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The cut comes through a negative Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS), which adjusts bills based on changes in the cost of fuel and purchased power.
The reduction is described as the fourth consecutive month of relief for consumers. UPPCL links the lower surcharge to decreased power purchase costs reported in July 2026. The measure is expected to benefit consumers broadly, with the overall savings estimated at around Rs 425 crore. By applying the negative surcharge for October, the corporation aims to continue reflecting those lower costs in billing and provide ongoing financial support to customers.
