In particular, outlets link the push to Infantino’s political and financial approach, including a failed plan described in reports to sell stakes in future World Cup profit streams to private investors.
While Al-Khelaïfi is positioned as an influential figure in European governance due to his roles at PSG and within European football institutions, his decision indicates he will not lead that challenge as a direct candidate in FIFA’s election.
