Lalit Prabhakar, a Marathi actor, is set to portray Ajmal Kasab in the upcoming film “Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam.” The movie centers on the courtroom trial following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, with Kasab presented as the accused.

According to multiple outlets, Kasab is depicted as the lone surviving attacker captured alive from the 26/11 attacks. Rajkummar Rao plays Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, while the film also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher and Ashish Vidyarthi in key roles. Times of India and Free Press Journal describe the film’s focus on the legal battle and emphasize Prabhakar’s casting as a major acting challenge. Free Press Journal adds that the trailer was unveiled in Mumbai on September 29 and that Prabhakar auditioned for the role, preparing not only for physical transformation but also for Kasab’s psychology, language and body language.

The outlets largely agree on the core premise, cast, and the release timeline, with differences mainly in how much they cover Prabhakar’s background and preparation versus the broader trial-based storyline.

The film is scheduled to release on October 16, 2026.
