Film editor John Grover, who worked on several James Bond productions and edited major classics including Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, has died at age 87. Multiple outlets report his death on September 28.

Grover also worked on David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago and later credits include Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. British Film Editors confirmed the news through social media, and The Hollywood Reporter notes his broad range of early career experiences, spanning large-scale period filmmaking and science fiction.

Several reports focus on his James Bond filmography, identifying him as the editor on about half a dozen 007 movies. The Times of India adds that Grover died at his home in Buckinghamshire, England, after a short illness, as reported by his son. The accounts largely agree on his key credits and age, while differing mainly on the amount of personal detail and specific emphasis on individual Bond titles.
