CARICOM says it has secured commitments from international partners—PAHO, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank—to help operationalise a regional Caricom Digital Health Strategy. The announcement follows the 53rd Meeting of the Caricom Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD)—Health, held in Washington.
Caricom health ministers reaffirm the strategy’s mandate to be developed through a Caricom-led, member state-driven process. They emphasise the role of digital health in strengthening health systems, including service delivery and primary health care, workforce management, public-health surveillance, civil registration, health financing and evidence-informed decision-making.
The outlets align on the partners involved and the setting of the COHSOD—Health meeting. They differ mainly in emphasis: one source highlights the ministers’ focus on building from existing regional and national frameworks and keeping member states central, while the other presents the development as a broader effort to advance the digital health agenda. Both frame the support as part of efforts to improve connectivity and resilience within a “Caribbean health architecture” oriented toward equitable, sustainable outcomes.
