Nigerian activist Chidiebere Justice Mark, popularly known as JusticeCrack, files a fundamental rights lawsuit against the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Attorney-General of the Federation. He says the case is linked to alleged violations of his rights while he is held in military custody.
In a statement released through his legal team on Wednesday, JusticeCrack alleges he is arrested on April 28, 2026, and subjected to degrading treatment. He claims he is handcuffed and blindfolded, kept under the sun during the day and in cold conditions at night, and denied access to water and other basic necessities. He also says he is later transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS), where he spends about 21 days.
Both outlets frame the action as a legal bid for court review of the circumstances of his detention and the alleged abuses. They differ mainly in the level of procedural detail provided, but both present the same core allegations, named respondents, and the claim that the detention occurs separately from an ongoing criminal case scheduled for September 28.
