Prime Minister Narendra Modi praises flydubai pilot Captain Smit Machchhar, saying his actions prevented another “9/11”-style attack. Multiple reports describe Modi publicly highlighting Machchhar’s role and commending his response during the incident.
According to the outlets, Modi also reaches out to Machchhar’s family, including by speaking with them and asking about his health. While both sources emphasize the recognition and the “hero” framing, they provide similar core information: Modi’s direct praise and his personal contact with the pilot’s family. The reports do not, in the excerpts provided, include detailed, verifiable specifics of the alleged threat or the exact circumstances of how the situation unfolded.
Overall, the coverage centres on the Prime Minister’s public comments and follow-up with the family, presenting the episode as one in which the pilot’s conduct helped avert a major catastrophe.
