Krafton cancels development of PUBG: Black Budget, a PUBG extraction-shooter spin-off that it announced in 2025. Multiple outlets report Krafton stops work on the project after more than a year in development, including several closed alpha tests.

Krafton describes the decision as based on the project’s development status and future direction. According to a Steam update cited by outlets, the publisher says it does not believe the current direction can deliver an experience that will keep players engaged over the long term. In that same update, Krafton says PUBG Studios will carry lessons from development and testing into future projects.

The reports also place the cancellation within Krafton’s broader pattern of spin-off setbacks. GameSpot notes that PUBG: Black Budget is the second PUBG spin-off to be ended, following PUBG: Blindspot, which was shut down earlier after a short run. Eurogamer and Polygon focus on how quickly Krafton reverses course after the title’s announcement, while GameSpot adds context about the extraction shooter and live-service markets. Krafton is also developing another PUBG spin-off, Ded.Net, which remains in progress.
