Carlton defeats Hawthorn in AFLW Round 8 in heavy rain at Ikon Park. Both reports describe wintry, torrential conditions that affect play, with Carlton holding strong at key moments to secure the win.
The Brisbane Times and The Age both highlight a separate incident involving Hawthorn’s banner. They report that the Hawks’ banner is destroyed, adding an additional disruption to the match day amid the poor weather. Beyond the weather and the banner incident, the two accounts focus on Carlton’s ability to perform when it mattered, rather than providing extensive detail on scoring or individual performances.
