Elon Musk is again drawing online criticism after posting on X that “Instagram is for girls.” The comment has prompted fresh debate among users who respond to the statement and discuss what it implies about gender and social media usage.
NDTV and other outlets note that this is not a one-off remark. NDTV reports that Musk made a similar statement earlier in May while replying to another X post about Instagram, including a mention of deleting the app. Vanguard similarly highlights that Musk’s renewed criticism follows his earlier comments.
Overall coverage across sources focuses on the fact of Musk’s statement and the resulting discussion online, rather than any response from Instagram or Musk’s broader rationale. The reports align that the latest attention comes from Musk’s repost and the way it revives a previously raised controversy.
