The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) in the UK cuts ties with Teva UK, removing the Israeli pharmaceutical company as a commercial partner and sponsor of an upcoming event at the union’s London headquarters. The RCN says it is acting after further due diligence that raises concerns about Teva’s operations and whether they align with union values.
RCN council chair Carmel O’Boyle confirms Teva UK will no longer sponsor an RCNi nursing event scheduled for 30 October 2026, including a migraine and headache services event, though the event proceeds as planned. The decision follows campaigns by Nurses for Palestine and UK Healthcare Petitions to Royal Colleges, which argue that Teva is linked to Israel’s military and wider state structures.
Pro-Palestine groups describe the move as a breakthrough for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) effort. They also criticize the RCN leadership’s earlier references to “political neutrality.” Teva says it is disappointed and argues the union is politicizing healthcare. Both outlets also note that Teva has faced regulatory enforcement in recent years, including fines related to allegations such as price-fixing and bribery.
