A Vande Bharat Express crosses the Chenab Railway Bridge and the Anji Khad (cable-stayed) bridge at 100 kmph during a test run, with India’s Railways saying the higher speed is successfully achieved. Reporting cites Vande Bharat Train numbers 26401/26404 and says the run covers both structures within the Katra–Banihal rail section.
The move follows an increase in the maximum permissible speed on the 111-km Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Banihal broad-gauge section. According to officials, the speed limit rises from 75 kmph to 100 kmph after required safety conditions are met, with earlier limits of 85 kmph on part of the Katra–Sangaldan segment and 75 kmph on the Sangaldan–Banihal segment. The test is presented as part of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Railway Link project, which includes major structures such as the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River and India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge.
While outlets emphasize different angles—some focus on the engineering milestone and record-style framing of the 100 kmph crossing—the underlying details are consistent: the speed enhancement is tested on the Chenab and Anji bridges, and the rail section’s allowable operating speed is raised to 100 kmph.
