A Federal High Court in Abuja orders Arinze Nwogba’s remand at Kuje Correctional Centre after he is accused of impersonating the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina. The court remand is ordered while the case proceeds and the bail application is pending.
According to reports, Justice Salim Ibrahim delivers the ruling on Friday, directing that Nwogba remains in custody. Outlets also state that the court fixes dates for further steps in the case, including a ruling on his bail request.
Premium Times and Vanguard report the remand order. Nigerian Eye adds further detail on the allegations and procedure: it says the Inspector-General of Police files six counts in an Abuja Federal High Court case and alleges that Nwogba used Aina’s identity on social and communication platforms to deceive people and solicit money, while also pleading not guilty. Nigerian Eye also says the prosecution opposes bail and that one alleged accomplice remains at large.
