Petronet LNG Ltd appoints Sanjay Kumar, currently Director (Marketing) at state-owned GAIL (India) Ltd, as its next Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. He is scheduled to take charge in May 2027, after the current CEO, A K Singh, concludes an extended tenure and retires.

According to the company’s disclosures cited by outlets, Petronet’s board makes the decision on October 2 and assigns Kumar a five-year term beginning May 13, 2027. His appointment follows Singh’s retirement on May 12, 2027. Petronet is majority owned by state-run energy companies, including IOC, GAIL (India), ONGC and BPCL, each holding a 12.5% stake, and it operates LNG import and regasification assets at Dahej (Gujarat) and Kochi (Kerala). Outlets also note Kumar’s extensive experience in the natural gas and LNG value chain, and that Petronet’s LNG infrastructure and planned expansions are central to its operations during the transition.
