Joshua Kerry, 28, accused of murdering former MP Ann Widdecombe, is charged with one count of preparing terrorist acts, including alleged plans targeting Nigel Farage. Prosecutors say the charge is under the Terrorism Act 2006 and that they have reviewed evidence sufficient to bring the case to court.
Police and counter-terrorism officials say the conduct linked to the terrorism charge allegedly took place between 31 May 2024 and 8 July this year. Sources describe the matter as part of work led by Counter Terrorism Policing, following the suspect’s prior arrest and charge connected to Widdecombe’s death. The Metropolitan Police previously investigated a related incident involving Farage but made no arrests and closed the inquiry pending further lines of investigation.
Outlets also note that Kerry has already appeared at the Old Bailey charged with Widdecombe’s murder, and that he is due to appear again at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 7 October 2026. Coverage cites statements from the Crown Prosecution Service and Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, alongside police remarks about an investigation that they describe as intensive and complex.
