The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) files a chargesheet against Reliance Communications (RCom), two former Reliance ADA executives and a former Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) chief investment officer in a ₹3,750-crore fraud case. The case centers on LIC’s 2012 investment in non-convertible debentures (NCDs) issued by RCom, based on allegations of misrepresentation.

According to the CBI, LIC subscribed to NCDs worth ₹1,500 crore in 2012 and that the funds were later diverted to entities within the ADA Group. The agency alleges this diversion results in wrongful loss to LIC and corresponding wrongful gain to the accused persons and entities, with the total alleged loss pegged at ₹3,750 crore. The CBI says it registered the case on April 1, 2026 following a complaint from LIC.

Outlet reports also describe the legal provisions invoked. The Hindu and other sources state the accused are charged with offences including criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust under the erstwhile Indian Penal Code, along with offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Some reporting adds that the chargesheet is part of a broader CBI probe into alleged financial irregularities involving Reliance ADA Group entities, where multiple FIRs are linked to complaints from public sector banks, LIC and EPFO.
