Guyanese passport holders can now enter Saudi Arabia using a visa on arrival or an electronic visa (e-visa) without first holding a valid U.S., U.K., or Schengen visa, according to Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The change is announced as a shift from previous rules that required a third-country visa as a condition for Saudi visa-on-arrival or e-visa eligibility.

Multiple outlets report that the adjustment is expected to make travel between Guyana and Saudi Arabia easier for purposes including Umrah, tourism, and visiting family or friends. They also note that travellers no longer need to use an agent or visit a Saudi embassy to access the facility, and that applications can be made directly or visas can be obtained on arrival by presenting a Guyanese passport and paying the required visa fee.

The outlets frame the development as linked to strengthened bilateral relations and ongoing discussions between Guyana and Saudi Arabia, citing broader areas such as trade, economic partnerships, investment, tourism, and people-to-people ties. One report adds that Guyana is described as the only South American country whose passport holders receive this facility without the third-country visa requirement.
