The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) alleges that Delhi Police refused to register a First Information Report (FIR) against ACP Vivek Bhagat after a molestation complaint. The party says its team, along with the alleged victim, approached a police station to seek FIR registration, but was told this was not being done due to an ongoing Crime Branch investigation.
The dispute follows multiple sexual harassment allegations by women journalists. An independent journalist, Rosy, accuses Bhagat of groping and pushing her while she was recording the detention of an AISA activist during a protest. Two other women journalists later reported similar allegations, with claims that police did not take action on their complaint earlier.
Delhi Police, however, confirms that complaints were registered and states that the matter was referred to the Crime Branch. The differing accounts center on whether an FIR was initially withheld and how the complaint is being processed, while the Crime Branch investigation is ongoing.
