The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command orders the arrest and immediate prosecution of motorists who drive vehicles with concealed, defaced, or deliberately faded number plates, or without valid plates. The command also warns against using tinted glasses without valid permits and against unauthorised use of fake diplomatic number plates in the FCT.
The warning is issued by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, through a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh. Police say the move follows an increase in the use of such vehicles, which can make it harder for security agencies to identify and track suspects involved in criminal activity.
Across the reports, the core emphasis remains the same: stronger enforcement in the FCT, compliance with laws governing vehicle identification, and intensified police action by officers to address plate violations, tinted-glass offences, and the misuse of diplomatic plates. While the wording varies by outlet, all describe the same directive to arrest and prosecute offenders.
