Turkey’s foreign ministry says a committee under the Mecca defence pact—between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan—will hold talks in Riyadh on Monday. The ministry says the meeting addresses recent regional developments and progress toward institutionalising the alliance.
The decision comes as diplomatic and security issues in Yemen remain central. Pakistan’s foreign minister has said Iran suggested engaging Yemen’s Houthis politically following attacks by the group, and that proposal is expected to be discussed at the Riyadh meeting. Separate reporting also notes heightened activity in the country, including a major military operation announced by Yemen’s Saudi-backed government as efforts continue against Iran-backed Houthis.
