Kia Motors ranks second among automakers in Britain for the January-to-August period, supported by strong sales of its Sportage SUV, industry figures show. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) data says Kia sells 76,850 vehicles over the eight-month span, up 2.3% year-on-year.
Volkswagen is the top seller in the same period, with 111,830 vehicles. Kia is the only Asian automaker in Britain’s top five sellers during this timeframe, moving up one place compared with a year earlier and overtaking several European brands including BMW and Audi. Sources also note Kia’s sales growth in Britain has been steady, crossing 100,000 units for four consecutive years prior to 2025. Reported annual totals include 100,191 in 2022, 107,765 in 2023, 112,252 in 2024, and 113,436 in 2025.
Both outlets frame Kia’s performance as part of an ongoing upward trend and indicate that, if demand continues through the rest of the year, Kia could extend its streak of annual sales above 100,000 and potentially set a new record.
