Latvian airline airBaltic says it plans to cut up to 700 jobs as part of a new business plan that restructures the company and aligns its costs with expected future operations. Multiple outlets report that the reductions would affect staff at airBaltic bases in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn.
LSM Latvia, LRT English, ERR News and Quartz all cite the company’s figure of roughly 500 to 700 positions, describing it as part of broader restructuring. Quartz adds that airBaltic employs about 3,000 people across the Baltics, placing the potential cuts at around a fifth of the workforce. NDTV similarly reports that the job reduction is linked to efforts to reduce mounting debt, though outlets generally agree the specific number of affected employees and roles is still being discussed within the company’s planning process.
