Nigeria’s National Register of Voters stands at over 103 million following the completion of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and final biometric cleanup, INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan says. INEC announces the figure during a keynote address at a strategic workshop for media executives in Abuja.

The outlets agree the update follows INEC’s three-phase CVR process and subsequent verification and cleanup through biometric systems. INEC reports registering 10,772,421 new voters during the three phases, which were then processed through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) after the public display period for claims and objections. Several reports also note the previous register was about 93.47 million ahead of the 2023 elections.

While all accounts focus on the new voter total, some add related election-readiness details. One outlet reports that INEC is preparing nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from October 9, 2026, and says it has acquired 57,000 new BVAS devices. Another emphasizes the rise in registration ahead of the 2027 general elections, with election dates referenced by some sources.
