A Florida school bus overturns onto its roof during a multi-vehicle crash in central Florida on Monday morning, killing two people, authorities say. The victims include a student described by sources as a 10th-grade girl. Several other people are injured.

Police say the bus is heading toward Winter Haven High School and was traveling on Winter Haven Road in the Winter Haven area. The Polk County Sheriff, Grady Judd, says an oncoming car crosses the center line and this contributes to the crash. One source reports that about 39 people are on the bus at the time, and provides the sheriff’s characterization of the crash as “horrific” or “terrible.”

Across the available reports, details focus on the rollover, the death toll, and the sheriff’s account of a vehicle crossing the center line. The differing coverage is primarily in phrasing and emphasis rather than in the core sequence of events.
