Pakistan names Sahibzada Farhan as captain for its three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, with matches scheduled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 9, 11 and 13. The Pakistan Cricket Board also makes changes to the squad’s leadership in the format, ending Salman Ali Agha’s role as T20I captain. Salman is omitted from the T20I set but remains included for Pakistan’s subsequent ODI tri-series.

The PCB drops Babar Azam from the T20I squad as well, while keeping him in the ODI plans. Shaheen Shah Afridi retains the ODI captaincy for the seven-match tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. That ODI tournament begins after the T20Is, with initial matches in Rawalpindi and the remainder—including the final—taking place in Lahore. Sources also report that Farhan previously captained Pakistan at the Asian Games.

Dawn and the Free Press Journal add squad and staff details: uncapped players Razaullah and Mohammad Imran Randhawa receive T20I call-ups, alongside a mix of established names such as Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan and Abrar Ahmed. The coaching staff change is also consistent across outlets: Shaun Tait is appointed as bowling coach in a consultancy capacity, replacing Ashley Noffke in that role after the Asian Games.
