Samsung Electro-Mechanics says it has signed a contract worth 290 billion won (about $210 million) to supply multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for AI servers to a global company in the United States.
The deal is a one-year supply agreement scheduled to run from January 2027 through December 2027. The company does not name the customer, citing a confidentiality agreement. Both Korean outlets describe the agreement as part of a broader run of large, long-term component supply deals announced by the firm this year, totaling close to 4 trillion won when including contracts not subject to disclosure.
The reporting converges on why the components are in demand: MLCCs help regulate and stabilize electrical current and reduce electromagnetic interference, and AI servers typically require more advanced capacitors than those used in mobile devices. One outlet also frames the contract as the latest in a series supporting growth in the global AI server MLCC market, with Goldman Sachs projecting rapid market expansion.
