South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to hold a summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Seoul on Thursday, as part of El-Sisi’s three-day state visit. The leaders are set to meet after El-Sisi arrives in Korea the day before, following an official welcoming ceremony.

The summit focuses on expanding economic cooperation, including trade and investment, infrastructure projects, and supply-chain links. Both outlets also say the agenda includes people-to-people exchanges, along with discussions on the regional political situation and international issues. A joint press briefing and a state luncheon are also planned, along with an agreement signing ceremony.

Kang Yu-jung, a spokesperson for South Korea’s presidential office, describes the visit as an opportunity to develop South Korea–Egypt relations into a “strategic partnership” and strengthen cooperation with Africa and the Middle East. The leaders last met in November, when Lee visited Egypt, and El-Sisi’s upcoming trip is his first to South Korea since 2016.
