India’s Cabinet approves a proposal to set up an Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority (ITLA) to coordinate transport planning across sectors. The authority is tasked with preparing a long-term Transport Plan covering roads, railways, ports, civil aviation, and urban mobility.

The Cabinet decision also sets a scope for ITLA’s evaluation role, including government infrastructure projects with an investment value of ₹500 crore or more. Multiple outlets report that ITLA will develop a National Transport Master Plan with a 10-year horizon, aimed at improving coordination across transport ministries and strengthening multi-modal integration.

Reporting also highlights the authority’s role in improving how projects are assessed and tracked. One outlet notes that ITLA will create a unified transport data repository to support evaluations, linking planning and assessment across different transport modes. While the sources broadly agree on ITLA’s mandate and oversight thresholds, they emphasize different planning elements—one focusing on the overall long-term plan, and another on the specific master plan timeline and data framework.
