Paramount+ and HBO Max are set to change following the closing of the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery under Skydance. Outlets report that the newly formed company is planning a consolidation of its flagship streaming services, but it has not provided a specific timetable for how and when viewers will see those changes.
Skydance says consumers should expect improvements and, over time, a single unified streaming service. Coverage also points to a “short-term” period in which Paramount+ and HBO Max operate as separate platforms while possibly being bundled. David Ellison, Skydance’s chairman and CEO, describes a longer-term plan to bring the services together after that initial phase.
On pricing and bundles, reporting is mixed only in emphasis: the merger has prompted questions about potential cost changes, but HBO Max indicates no price or bundle changes are planned “for now,” while Skydance has not publicly detailed a new consolidation pricing plan. Current subscription prices cited across outlets show Paramount+ starting at $8.99 per month and HBO Max at $10.99 per month.
