KT&G begins operations at its second tobacco manufacturing plant in Indonesia, expanding its production footprint in Southeast Asia. The new facility is located in Pasuruan, East Java. KT&G says its first Indonesian plant is in Surabaya.
The company presents the Pasuruan plant as a manufacturing base for goods produced for export to neighboring countries and other overseas markets. KT&G reports the plant’s annual production capacity as 21 billion cigarettes, raising its total Indonesian capacity to 35 billion cigarettes. It also notes it operates tobacco plants in several countries, including Korea, Russia, Turkey, Indonesia and Kazakhstan.
Across the reports, the central details focus on where the new plant is located and its role in regional exports. The coverage also provides additional figures on overall production capacity and company targets, including an aim for overseas sales to account for half of its sales in 2027, and expectations about combined production capacity across overseas plants. One outlet does not include all quantitative targets shown in the other, but both frame the start of operations as part of KT&G’s Southeast Asia expansion.
