Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon says the Seoul Metropolitan Government is open to a joint bid to host the 2036 Olympics with North Jeolla Province. Speaking at a City Hall press conference, he indicates Seoul would accept a co-hosting arrangement proposed by the province, rather than requiring Seoul’s preferred terms as a condition for participation.
Oh stresses that any joint hosting plan must be competitive enough to satisfy International Olympic Committee (IOC) standards and secure approval. He also says Seoul will not insist on changes to its position if North Jeolla joins the effort, and urges the provincial government to submit a formal proposal if it wants Seoul to participate in a shared bid.
