Actor Rajpal Yadav appears in person before the Supreme Court and tells the bench that his long-running cheque-bounce case has caused major financial and professional losses. During the hearing, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant discusses the matter with him in an informal exchange, and Yadav reveals details of the dispute and the impact on his finances.
Multiple outlets report the court warns Yadav over non-payment and directs him to deposit ₹2 crore by October 13, after earlier deadlines were missed. He shows a demand draft for ₹1.15 crore and says a buyer of his property will pay the remaining ₹85 lakh, with the court considering his plea against a Delhi High Court order. The case stems from a loan of about ₹5 crore taken in relation to Yadav’s 2012 film “Ata Pata Laapata,” after which cheques were dishonoured, leading to proceedings that have dragged on for years with interest and charges accumulating.
In the same hearing, Yadav tells the court that the dispute has “snowballed” from the original ₹5 crore into a much larger burden, and he announces the title of his next film as “Solah Sawan Jhel Ke,” describing it as reflecting his experiences from 2010 to 2026.
