A former college lecturer is jailed for six years after a drink-driving crash in Fife that kills a husband and wife. The sentencing follows his admission to causing the deaths by dangerous driving in a head-on collision during the Christmas period.

Reporting across outlets says the crash occurs on December 21. The victims are identified as Jatinder Kaur, 48, and Satwant Singh, 64. The defendant, described by one outlet as Sophie Hynd, 33, previously admitted the charges.

The Herald Scotland adds that the couple’s children speak publicly about the impact of the deaths, saying they will miss their parents “more than words can express.” Other outlets focus on the fact of the sentence and the circumstances of the Christmas party and head-on crash, with consistent accounts of the location and outcome.
