Anthropic is rolling out “Claude for Google Workspace,” a public beta add-on that brings the Claude AI assistant into Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. Users can open Claude in a sidebar next to the document they are working on, rewrite and restyle text in-place, and work with spreadsheet and slide content directly within Google’s productivity apps.

The integration also includes beta connectors that let Claude create or edit Google Drive files from Claude’s chat interface. Depending on settings, users can either approve individual edits or allow Claude to apply changes automatically, and the assistant operates within the sharing permissions already set on the files. Several outlets frame the launch as part of escalating competition among productivity AI assistants, positioning Claude alongside alternatives already embedded in suites such as Google’s Gemini and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Availability is described as limited to subscribers on paid Claude plans, with the add-on installed through the Google Workspace Marketplace and connectors enabled through Claude account settings. Managed accounts may require admin approval.
