Lifetime is developing a new original movie, “Murder in Cold Country,” with Jennifer Beals and Katheryn Winnick set to star. Both outlets report the leads will play detectives whose partnership forms after a tragedy, with the film bringing together their characters’ paths as the case unfolds.
The movie is based on a story by Tess Gerritsen, the bestselling author behind “Rizzoli & Isles,” and Dan Rosen. Additional casting is also underway, with TVLine reporting that Elsbeth’s mother character will include a notable addition from the show’s wider universe. Deadline and TVLine both frame the project as part of Lifetime’s broader slate of crime and mystery programming, but they mainly differ in emphasis between core leads and secondary role details.
