An IndiGo flight on the Patna–Lucknow route is struck by lightning while in flight at about 17,000 feet, and the aircraft’s nose radome is damaged. The pilots land safely at Lucknow airport, with no injuries reported among passengers or crew.
Multiple outlets say the aircraft is carrying 104 passengers and six crew members (110 people total) at the time of the incident, and that the flight arrives earlier than scheduled. Several reports add that the full extent of the nose damage becomes clear only after landing and inspection while the plane is on the ground.
Outlets also state that the aircraft is taken out of service pending checks and repairs. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is notified as required, and the plane remains grounded until regulatory clearance is obtained, according to reporting from one outlet.
