President Donald Trump is set to award the National Medal of Science to Elon Musk and other leading figures at a White House summit on Thursday. The White House says the ceremony, titled “Science: A New Golden Age,” will also honor Google co-founder Sergei Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and AMD chief Lisa Su with the National Medal of Science.
Several outlets also report that Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, the top U.S. award in that category. Bloomberg and others frame the move as reflecting close ties between the Trump administration and major technology companies, while some coverage highlights Musk’s roles at SpaceX and Tesla. Forbes additionally notes that several of the honorees signed a voluntary “White House Accord on Super Intelligence” last month.
The outlets largely agree on the event date, the medal categories, and the list of recipients, with emphasis differing across reports on the summit theme, the individual companies, and the broader relationship between government and Silicon Valley.
