Martin Lewis has launched a new “Small Ideas Initiative” that asks the public to submit practical, low-cost suggestions to make everyday life in the UK easier. The initiative is designed to identify what Lewis describes as “life-potholes” created by clunky systems or unintended consequences from poorly conceived rules. An accompanying cross-party panel of politicians and policymakers is set to review the suggestions.

The call for ideas covers a wide range of areas. Outlets report that potential topics include health and schools, policing, technology, and money, among others. The initiative encourages submissions of ideas that Lewis characterises as non-controversial and aimed at improving day-to-day experiences rather than major reforms. According to the reports, the deadline for submitting ideas is 12 November, and the intention is to take selected proposals forward to government, councils, and relevant regulators.
