A 17-year-old allegedly driving a rented Audi in Delhi crashes into three vehicles and fatally strikes a pedestrian, police say. The crash occurs around 2:30am on October 4 near Kishangarh/Vasant Kunj. After the collision, the teen is apprehended by police and a case is registered for reckless driving, with the Audi seized.

Outlets report that the teen rented the car for a friend’s birthday/overnight drive for about Rs 16,000 through an app or rental booking process. Police are examining whether required procedures were followed before handing over the vehicle, including verification of the driver’s age and checks of driving documents. Investigators are also assessing whether the teenager remained behind the wheel for the entire rental period and identifying anyone else who was allegedly in the car at the time of the crash. The accused is produced before the Juvenile Justice Board via video conferencing, according to one report.
