Zimbabwean author Simbarashe Steyn Kundizeza has won the 2026 Caine Prize for African Writing for his short story “The Blue Fighter.” The prize, announced by the Caine Prize organisers, recognises the best short story by an African writer published in English. Kundizeza receives £10,000 for the win, and the story is listed as having been published in The Shallow Tales Review in 2025.
