American Express announces major changes to its Centurion Lounge network, including new lounges at Newark Liberty International Airport and London Heathrow and large expansions at Houston and Philadelphia. The centerpiece is a new Newark lounge that grows to more than 30,000 square feet, making it the largest in the Centurion network, though it is not scheduled to open until 2027.
Amex also plans to open a second Centurion Lounge at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 in 2028, adding a new location to an existing Centurion Lounge in Terminal 3. In the U.S., the Philadelphia lounge doubles in size to more than 12,000 square feet and closes for renovations on October 16, with work expected to finish by the end of 2027. Houston’s lounge is set for a more extensive upgrade, nearly tripling to more than 23,000 square feet, with completion targeted for 2028.
Across outlets, the shared focus is the scale of the projects and Amex’s effort to meet rising demand for premium airport lounge access. Coverage also highlights the upgrades to amenities and food and beverage concepts planned for each location.
