Google has released an experimental note-taking application for macOS that can transcribe meeting audio and documents entirely offline. Multiple outlets describe the app as a local-first alternative to existing AI note-taker tools, taking meeting conversations or audio files and producing searchable text, summaries, and an ability to answer questions based on the content.

The app, reported as “Google AI Edge Foresight,” uses Google’s on-device AI rather than relying on cloud processing. The Verge and TechCrunch say it runs locally using Google’s EmbeddingGemma 2 model, and The Verge also reports the app is free to use. How-To Geek adds that the application can create searchable context and visual outputs (such as graphs) from meeting audio using multimodal on-device capabilities. Across the coverage, the key common thread is offline operation on a Mac, aiming to keep transcription and analysis local while providing features comparable to other AI note-taking apps.
