Reports say the operation involves agencies including municipal business support services and the Department of Home Affairs, alongside Durban Metro Police Service and other government entities. The accounts describe the effort as multidisciplinary and “high-impact,” focused on enforcing immigration laws and improving public safety.
New Zimbabwe adds that Zimbabweans are among those arrested, while the other reports describe the arrests as targeting undocumented migrants without singling out nationalities. In addition to the arrests, officials shut down retail outlets found to be non-compliant, with all sources citing closures of five shops. The operation is presented as part of ongoing measures to regulate business activity in the CBD and address unlawful immigration in the area.
