Four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are injured in an accidental explosion during explosives disposal in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. Police say the incident happens near the Bodrajpadar Nala area, close to a security camp, when a fragment from an explosive that was being handled flies nearby and detonates.

Multiple outlets report that an Ammunition Technical Team from the CRPF’s 50th battalion is conducting inspections and carrying out disposal of unserviceable or leftover explosives at camps in the area. Authorities state the team follows prescribed safety protocols, and that four personnel deployed for security and disposal are hurt. Two of the injured are reported as seriously hurt, while the other two have minor injuries.

Early reporting initially raised confusion about whether the blast was linked to a Maoist attack. However, outlets citing police statements indicate the area was secured and that authorities do not find evidence of Maoist involvement, treating the incident as an accidental blast during routine disposal operations. Injured personnel receive first aid and are shifted to a government hospital in Konta, with arrangements discussed for further care for those seriously hurt.
