Four astronauts from NASA’s Crew-12 mission return to Earth after nearly eight months aboard the International Space Station. They went to the ISS about eight months ago as a medical relief effort, to replace a colleague who fell ill in space, along with his crew.

The return occurs with a SpaceX splashdown in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Los Angeles. Outlets report the crew includes two NASA astronauts, one European Space Agency astronaut, and a Russian cosmonaut. During their time on the ISS, they perform spacewalks, complete science experiments, and carry out research while living and working at the station.

While coverage focuses on the timing and circumstances of the mission, there is no major dispute about the basic facts: the crew’s composition, the length of their stay, the purpose of the assignment to provide relief, and the location and method of their return to Earth.
