Guyana Police are investigating suspected Trafficking in Persons (TIP) after an operation at a business premises in the Berbice region on Wednesday evening. Officers visited a site at No. 65 Village, Corentyne, where they found six Venezuelan women. The women are screened as part of efforts to determine whether the premises are being used for trafficking or whether they are victims.
According to reports, the operation took place between about 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m., and the police say the case remains in the evidentiary stage. Authorities have not reported filing charges or making a final determination about the legal status of the business or the individuals involved.
