Apple is making changes to its executive leadership, including naming Steve Smith as its new mergers and acquisitions (M&A) chief, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter. The move comes as CEO John Ternus reshapes parts of Apple’s corporate structure.
Across reports, the handoff centers on responsibility for acquisitions and corporate development. Adrian Perica previously led the M&A function alongside broader services responsibilities, and he is said to shift away from M&A to focus on services businesses such as iCloud, Fitness+, and Apple News. Apple also restructures reporting lines: Smith is reported to answer to CFO Kevan Parekh, returning the M&A function to the finance organization after a separation that dates to 2019.
Other leadership changes mentioned by outlets include App Store oversight. Carson Oliver is promoted to vice president of the App Store after Phil Schiller stepped down, with Oliver reporting to Eddy Cue. Cue is also described as assessing potential successors for the services and App Store-related roles, with Perica cited as a candidate in some coverage.
