Deafheaven have released a surprise EP, “At Work in the Fields of the Bomb.” The band’s guitar player Kerry McCoy previously teased that the new record would be their heaviest and hardest release, with an expected drop before the end of the year. During an ongoing tour with Mastodon and Alcest, sightings of the EP being sold at merch tables reportedly appeared before the wider release.

The EP is presented as Deafheaven’s first new music since their 2025 release, “Lonely People with Power.” According to outlets, “At Work in the Fields of the Bomb” consists of three songs and is available both to stream on major platforms and to access following its surprise rollout. Some coverage also references the band’s touring context as a backdrop to the release, while other reports focus directly on the EP’s availability and track count.
