Pakistan condemns Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and reaffirms support for the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security, including at the UN Security Council’s Yemen briefing. Pakistan’s UN envoy says Islamabad would stand “shoulder to shoulder” with Saudi Arabia and urges an immediate end to hostilities.

The statements reference the Makkah/Mecca Joint Defence Agreement and recent decisions by Pakistan’s Strategic Political and Defence Committee. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also highlights Saudi and coalition efforts to intercept missiles, including attacks linked to King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport, which reportedly caused civilian casualties.

In UN remarks, Pakistan also links the escalation to broader regional and maritime security concerns, calling for protection of freedom of navigation and for Houthis to stop attacks on commercial shipping. The envoy urges renewed humanitarian access in Yemen, supports UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg’s efforts to contain escalation, and calls for a political process led by Yemenis under UN auspices.
